With Friends Like Andrea Mitchell…

Andrea Mitchell Leads Media Pushback On McCain Ad

This whole episode should be sufficient to demonstrate that a single reporter committed to doing a good job is worth a thousand sycophants.

Yep, that Andrea Mitchell is a real journalistic hero. I think Mitchell knows what side of the bread is buttered politically these days, and it’s not the conservative side. When the Bush WH wanted to out a CIA agent in retaliation for Joe Wilson calling them out on their BS, she was more than willing to carry the WH water. Now she’s a “single reporter committed to doing a good job.” Yeah, right.

I get the impression that Mitchell is simply less a fan of McCain, than she is an Obama supporter.

Obama Frustrates and Confuses White Folks

July 31, 2008

Since the Democrat primary and now the general, Barack Obama’s enemies have been trying to turn him into an angry black man. They haven’t been able to do it, and it confuses and frustrates them.

Toby Keith: ‘Black Society’ Thinks Obama ‘Talks, Acts and Carries Himself As A Caucasian’»

Even though the black society would pull for him, I still think that they think in the back of their mind that the only reason that he is in is because he talks, acts and carries himself as a Caucasian.

So Toby Keith is basically saying that Barack Obama is a Tom. To idiots like Keith, there is only white and black and nothing in between. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are black to guys like Keith, but Obama isn’t because… well, why isn’t he? To Keith, a “real black man” could never get “in” to the system like a white man Caucasian.

If people like Keith had any cultural education at all, other than knowing how to skin varmints and make stew out of road-kill, then he’d know that in the black communities across America, those of mixed background are considered… you got it… black. Asian and black. White and black. Hispanic and black. And on and on. They are all black people. Even if you don’t admit that you’re black, like say Tiger Woods or Maria Carey, black folks across America will still acknowledge you as… you got it… black. How do I know? Because like Barack Obama, I’m of mixed heritage, a black father and a white mother. I think Woopie explained it to Hasselbeck on the View not too long ago. I’m paraphrasing:

If the KKK will chase your ass… you’re black.

McCain’s latest attack ad has images of Obama mixed in with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, an obvious attempt at portraying Obama as a black predator of white women. You know that Paris and Britney, America’s princes, need to be protected from guys like Obama, otherwise they won’t be able to make their sex tapes for the Internet, or shave their heads or make out with Madonna.

The day after Beck’s “colorless” remark, Rush Limbaugh said that Obama should “renounce” his race and just “become white.” Extreme conservative talker Melanie Morgan has called Obama a “halfrican” who “is not allowed to wear the African-American badge because his family are not the descendants of slaves.” Tucker Carlson wondered about Obama, “Is he black enough?”

– Pat Garofalo

In the conservatives failed attempt at turning Obama into Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or Rev. Wright, a “real black man”, they now want to turn him into an Uncle Tom, a black man that kisses the white man’s ass to get ahead. Yet another transparent attack from the Wingers that simply won’t fly.

Who Wants Ron Artest?

July 31, 2008

The Houston Rockets, that’s who. Unless of course Ron keeps popping off about crazy shit.

I understand what Yao said, but I’m still ghetto. That’s not going to change. I’m never going to change my culture. Yao has played with a lot of black players, but I don’t think he’s ever played with a black player that really represents his culture as much as I represent my culture.

I don’t know if Yao mentioned anything about Ron’s culture in his statement, only that there was worry about Ron’s stability as a player.

There’s worry. Obviously, yes. We will think about it, of course. Hopefully, he’s not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands.”

I like Ron’s game, but I’ve always had the impression that he’s a little unstable, that he’s always about to pop off at any moment, not necessarily in a physical way, but sometimes I think I’ll see video of him wondering around town in his pajama’s spouting off about alien abduction or something.

Why The Smears Used On John Kerry Won’t Work On Obama

July 30, 2008

One is a bad ass mofo. By image alone, a presidential candidate that America has not seen before, with a strong, youthful presence, eyes looking towards the future. The other is somewhat goofy looking, not easy on the eyes, but easy to make fun of, easy to turn into a “flip-flopper”, a “phony soldier”, a “tax and spend liberal”. Can you guess which is which?

Democrats and Revenge

July 30, 2008

Republicans are better at the revenge thing than Democrats. The Clinton lynching over a blowjob was really revenge for what happened to Richard Nixon. Republicans during the ’90’s had been beaten twice by a better politician, a talented politician, that could very well get another democrat elected president if something wasn’t done. It didn’t matter that Clinton’s sexual exploits did nothing to harm the country or put it in any danger what so ever. Clinton’s behavior gave the GOP an opportunity to attack, humiliate and undermine its enemies, “liberals”, and create a narrative of immoral democrat leadership. This narrative has stuck to democrats like shit on a shoe ever since. You can wipe it off, but there’s always that stink it leaves behind.

Obama is running a campaign that is trying to discard the “Lewinsky” stink, (that sounds lewd), AKA the “liberal” stink, and apparently has no interest in GWB’s crimes or accountability. This is incredibly frustrating to progressives.

With GWB committing real crimes that have done irreparable damage to this country and others, progressives have been calling for heads to roll and have gotten very little response. There have been resignations, media scandal and trials, but no one in the Bush cabal has really been punished for any of the illegal actions they’ve committed. If the roles were reversed, if this Bush administration were a democrat one, and it had committed the same crimes, the GOP would be all over it. They wouldn’t think twice about putting the likes of Monica Goodling, Alberto Gonzales, Harriet Miers or Karl Rove in jail for contempt, if for nothing more than revenge. But they wouldn’t have had to, because the president would have already been impeached for either lying the country into war, or outing a CIA agent. Damn what it might to do the image of the GOP. There’re principles at stake.

Democrats seem to be moonwalking into power, simply letting the GOP do what they do best, which is to destroy government infrastructure by way of “reform”, and pull the country into recession, and then simply say: Hey, at least we’re not republicans!

Win or lose, the GOP is good at picking fights, they’re good at plotting, scheming and revenge. It would be nice to see democrats pick a fight once in a while, and win or lose, show their base that they have some backbone, that they believe in progressive principles, and that they believe those principles are worth fighting for.

Obama’s Veep

July 30, 2008

Trapper John over at Daily Kos lists what he thinks are the Obama Veep considerations. He discounts Tim Kaine, who’s been making a splash recently.

I think he’s unlikely to pick Tim Kaine, whose lieutenant governor is an arch-conservative Republican.

Tim Kaine’s a great guy and everything, but does any marginal improvement that he adds to Obama’s campaign offset the damage of coronating a Republican governor in Richmond?

He discounts Jack Reed because:

Chris Dodd, Jack Reed, and Evan Bayh all hail from states with GOP executives. If one of them becomes VP, we lose a Senate seat.

So that leaves you with Kathleen Sebelius and Sam Nunn from the pack that regularly get mentioned. Of those two, I’d say Sebelius has a way better shot (in fact, I doubt that Nunn is really under consideration), and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Obama picks her.

In fact, I’d say that she’s probably the frontrunner.

Obama/Sebelius? C’mon. I doubt anyone knows how to pronounce her name. We’re living in a 24 hour image conscious world. No way Obama has Sebelius on the ticket. Shallow? Yes. But that’s the ugly truth.

Trapper John predicts Tom Daschle as VP:

He can’t hurt Obama, he’s got no presidential ambitions of his own, and he’s guaranteed to be loyal.

Grumpy Guy disagrees. I bet the Obama campaign believes Daschle could hurt Obama the same way they believe Hillary, or any recognizable democrat from the “Lewinsky era” could hurt him. Obama is not only running against republicans, but he’s also running against the old democratic guard, or at least its perceived image. There will be no Hillary, Biden, Dodd, or Daschle’s on Obama’s ticket. Too old school.

Grumpy Guy predicts either:

Obama/Reed

Obama/Kaine

Although Reed’s been around since the Clinton presidency, he isn’t as recognizable as some other Clinton era Democrats. He’s said he isn’t interested in the VP job. Yeah Right. On the other hand, Kaine says he is interested, which according to Swopa, is a big mistake.

If Obama really is concerned about losing a Senate seat to the GOP by picking Reed, then it’s going to be Kaine.

Obama/Kaine

Looks good, sounds good. Progressives won’t like it, but I doubt Obama gives a rat’s ass.

Joe Buck Has Syphilis!

July 30, 2008

There can be no other explanation for this:

Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people.

The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way.

The Democrats have targeted young people, knowing how easy it is to bring forth whatever is needed to program their minds.

If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.

I never knew the guy from Midnight Cowboy and Deliverance was such a fucking asshole.
